Kerry has a good knowledge of anatomy and physiology, pathology, illness and injury, and the effects of operations and scar tissue. She considers the power of thoughts, beliefs and emotions in their ability to mould and shape us, impacting on how we stand and how we move, and how much pain and discomfort we experience.
Kerry will take a detailed history, current lifestyle and pain patterns, and possible mental-emotional factors to guide the therapy and to help you understand the possible causes of your pain or decrease in freedom of movement or being. Kerry can then use techniques including amma, shiatsu, acupressure, deep tissue massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, sports massage, stretching and soft tissue release, naturopathy and emotional facilitation where appropriate and welcome.
Where necessary or helpful, Kerry can communicate with your GP or refer you on to another healthcare professional. She will suggest any change in lifestyle which may be of benefit and give you some self care exercises so you can continue to strengthen and relax affected areas at home. Where pain is an issue Kerry can give you meditation exercises to help you understand, cope with and improve your situation.
Kerry offers individual sessions for relaxation and a block of 6 sessions to impact upon deeper issues, painful conditions and injuries and to help with rehabilitation. Sessions exploring memories, past trauma, beliefs and feelings and how they impact upon our physical experience can be beneficial in more chronic problems.
